Meet the Teacher

Welcome Parents and Students!

Mr. and Mrs. Trey Gwyn

Hello, I am glad you are visiting my webpage!  I look forward to meeting you and your child at WD! Until I have the opportunity to meet you in person, the below information will help you know more about me and what I do here at Williams.

I have been teaching in North Carolina since 1997.  I am certified as an elementary teacher in grades K-6, in the area of reading instruction grades K-12 and in ESL (English as a Second Language).  I obtained my National Board certification in 2009 in the area of Reading Language Arts.

Teaching children to read is extremely rewarding and; as far as I'm concerned, the absolute best job in the world!  I enjoy working with children in the elementary grades as they build their foundation for literacy. I have an extensive background in reading assessment and instruction. This background helps me understand each students' strengths and weaknesses as I help them reach their full potential in the area of literacy.

On a personal note, I am married and have three children. I love to travel with my family and introduce my children to new cultures.  My children are attending East Carolina University, Appalachian State University and Owen Middle School.  I am vested in our schools not only as a professional, but also as a parent.  I truly want the best for all of our students as they grow and mature personally and academically.  My children are my inspiration and my "teachers" in many ways.   I love being a mom and love teaching children!

I feel privileged to be an elementary school Title I teacher! Please stop by the Title I classroom when you are visiting our school or feel free to email me with questions at angela.gwyn@bcsemail.org.
