2023 Teachers of Excellence Award: Nominator Form

The Rotary Club of Asheville is proud to announce our 2nd Teachers of Excellence Awards program. This program begins with your nominations of teachers who, in your expert opinion, are deserving of high recognition.

Our committee will evaluate all nominations, conduct Zoom interviews with the 10 finalists, and award five winners $2,000.

The goal of the Teachers of Excellence Program is to recognize excellence in teaching in the public schools in the City of Asheville and Buncombe County. A key objective is to demonstrate that the community cares about the quality of public education and recognizes and rewards exceptional teachers.

Eligibility

Eligible schools may nominate multiple nominees.

Principals are normally the main source of nominations, but the program allows for nominations to come from anyone affiliated with the schools including: administrators, parents, students and even other teachers may nominate their peers.

Nominee must be employed full time and spend at least 70% of their time in direct instruction of North Carolina public school student.

Nominee must have a Standard Profession II/Continuing License.

Nominee has achieved permanent status and received at least "Satisfactory" ratings on their last two performance evaluations.

Nominees currently not assigned to a classroom, such as subject-area specialists and resource teachers, are eligible.
